Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday kicks off
the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community. We've created a directory to help you find organizations, charities, events and more in your own
community.
2012年、アメリカで小さなムーブメントが産声を上げました。
その名は「#GivingTuesday（ギビング・チューズデー）」
毎年11月の最終木曜日に、アメリカではサンクス・ギビング（感謝祭）を各家庭で祝います。
そしてその直後の週末から、アメリカではクリスマス商戦がスタート。
アメリカの消費者はこぞって家族に贈るクリスマスギフトを買いに、デパートやネット通販でショッピングをするのが習わしとなっています。
ニューヨークに本拠を置く、非営利組織のベルファーセンター・フォー・イノベーション＆ソーシャル・インパクトは、大量消費に走る人々にショッピングに使うお金や時間の一部を恵まれない人々や子供たちに贈りませんか？と問いかけました。
そしてその考えに賛同した人たちがソーシャルメディアを通じて拡散できるように#（ハッシュタグ）をつけ、感謝祭の翌週の火曜日を#GivingTuesdayと名付けたのです。
